Rules & Etiquette

pizza and beer is a fantastic idea for a viewing party!!

If you wish, at anytime to join me in some sort of marathon or viewing party, ie buffy the vampire slayer, arrested development, grey's anatomy, here are a few simple rules and suggestions!

1) Make sure you've done your homework.

- no one likes someone (especially me) who's come in mid-season (if a film, coming over halfway through or hasn't watched the prequeals or sequels) or wasn't into the previous seasons and has no idea what's going on. if this does happen (the past has taught me it's a pretty common thing) please make sure to ask all questions during commerical break, toilet breaks, all the fucking breaks or if you are unable to do so, write the fucking questions down, eat the brié and shut the fuck up!

- after the question and answer time go to the video store or check out youtube.com and watch the episodes you've missed.

2) View all episodes and seasons in order. Strictly NO JUMPING!
(unless there is a valid reason to do so, ie the urge to watch a particular episode like charlize theron in arrested development or the musical episode of buffy)

- Television shows have an order for a reason, it makes it easier to follow storylines..again if you have not completed your homework please refer to rule 1.

3) Questions and Answers.

- If attending a viewing party of a television show that is currently being aired on television and you have missed the previous week, it is okay to ask questions before the show has actually started so you will not be "lost" on the crucial events that went down the previous week.

- If unclear about the plot after question and answer time, asking questions during commerical breaks is approriate.

4) NO TALKING!

- When the show is playing please keep talking to a minimum. When a person or persons have a conversation during the show important dialogue usually is not heard and can be very annoying. This usually leads to grumpy people and we don't want that now do we?

- Please save the talking for breaks.

5) Witty Comments Are Welcome.

- Okay, i know i made it very clear with the "no talking", but there's always an exception. Everyone likes fun and an easy going environment! Witty comments are usually a breath of fresh air when it comes to drama's or stupid comedy's. The funnier the more cheese and wine you will be given!

- Timing is the key to laughs! No one likes a joker with a 10 minute delay!

6) Food and Beverages

- Cheese, crackers, anti pasto and wine is usually a winner, but don't be afraid to get creative! I suggest a quiché, apple pie with iced cream, cakes, tarts (the pastries although a little sluttyness never goes astray, might be good for the after viewing party) , dumplings (everyone likes a little msg!), sushi, coffee...okay maybe i should stop we're talking about food, my one true love i could go on forever while nawing on arm that belongs to the man next to me!

- Beer is also a favourite beverage, fruit punch or a blender for smoothies! Now, i can see that as a hit!

7) Comfortable Seating

- When hosting a viewing party it is very important to know how many people are planing on turning up in order to organise the living room arrangement. Make sure you have plenty of room and seating for your loved ones. No one likes having to sit on the hard cold ground (in turn, their hearts will turn hard and cold...TOWARDS YOU! not to mention their ass) or having to squish 4 people on a 2 seater .

- Pillows and blankets make the seating area more comfortable and cosy!

8) Internet.

- Make sure you have the internet connected and welcome everyone to log onto their myspaces for extra entertainment! (oh and to help reduce the bordem of the movie/show).

- Laughing at some poor sod's bullietin post or filling out a survey together brings friends and family closer!

- Also, the internet is helpful to shut the pie hole of every know-it-all in the room. i hate those fuckers! they are usually incorrect...unless that person is me but that's because i fail at life.

9) Time Management.

- No one likes a late person. 15-30 minutes is an okay time to be late, to me, that's even pushing it. Everyone sets a time for a reason and that reason is not to let you know the start time is the time for you to get out of bed and have a shower.

- If you are late make sure you let someone know and make up a story. Everyone loves stories.

10) Carpool.

- A car can usually fit 4 other people in it. Save the environment!

These are a simple guide line for everyone, so they are able to enjoy viewing parties more than usual! If you find a friend or family member does not obide by the rules above, i don't think there is anything wrong with a little ass kicking, i mean they fucking asked for it!
